Hi, I’m Anosh! I now work with one of the biggest NGOs in Nepal, leading the finance department. I oversee the funding situation of projects, acknowledge grants and donations, and prepare financial reports. I love working with numbers and calculating results, and I see myself as a bridge between the finance side of things and the people who help secure funding.

My Family

I’m blessed with a wonderful family — my loving wife, my two children, and my elderly father and mother, all under one roof. They’re my biggest source of strength and motivation, and everything I do, I do to build a better future for them. Right now, my work has taken me to another city, away from my family and home, which isn’t always easy — but I carry them with me in everything I do, and I look forward to the time we get to spend together.

My Story

I’m from Pokhara, where I grew up close to a community that shaped who I am today. As a child, I used to play nearby and watch the meaningful work being done around me. We’d crowd into a community hall to watch kids’ movies, attend Sunday school classes, and join carol-singing events organized with our church.

My mother worked on a farm when I was about 11 years old, and we used to bring her food. She was the only source of income for our family, so I experienced the effects of a difficult financial situation firsthand. That experience taught me the importance of supporting people to overcome poverty — a value I still carry with me.

I was supported by a children’s welfare organization for my secondary education, then attended government school and completed my higher secondary education with the same support. Later, I was granted a scholarship for my university degree, which opened doors that would otherwise have remained shut. One challenge of studying at a government school is limited opportunity to build English language skills, so university was a real challenge for me since all the coursework was in English — but I was determined to make the most of it.

During my degree, I did an internship in finance and was given the chance to work on a few meaningful projects, including a cost-benefit analysis connected to the very farm where my mother had once worked. That experience meant a lot to me.

After graduating, I worked for a few months as a part-time accountant, then took on a role as a cashier and secretarial assistant in a regional program. I spent two and a half years there, followed by two more years in another district, and a seven-month stint in a third — all while specializing in finance and administration and gradually learning more about funding and financial reporting.

My daughter was born during this time, in a place where transport and medical services were scarce. I’m deeply thankful that my wife had a safe, normal delivery — it’s an experience that made me appreciate just how important access to good services truly is. She was born under a snow-falling sky, and we finally returned home with our new addition after five years working away.

My Strengths

I’m skilled in Microsoft Excel and grateful to a mentor who helped me build strong spreadsheet knowledge early on. I consider myself personable, and I try to be someone my colleagues can rely on. Beyond finance and accounting, I’ve gained valuable experience across both business and charitable/nonprofit work over the years.

I believe unity and team spirit are what make a department strong. Every team member depends on another, and we all recognize and respect each other’s skills.

Outside of work, I volunteer and support my local church, and I have a real passion for financial management and stewardship — helping others use their resources wisely is something I find deeply fulfilling.

My Challenges

The biggest challenge I still face is the English language — I’m continually working to improve it, because I know it matters for my future growth. Connected to that is a fear of public speaking; as an introvert, it doesn’t come naturally to me, but I’m pushing myself to grow in this area as much as I can.

Looking Ahead

I’d love to see a real commitment to people — retaining skilled, values-driven, passionate team members — because I believe that’s what helps an organization succeed and meet the needs of more people.
